Stella McCartney Taps Gabriele Maggio as Chief Executive Officer

LONDON — Gabriele Maggio has been named chief executive officer of Stella McCartney as the brand begins its new partnership with minority owner LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, WWD has learned.
Maggio was most recently general manager of Moschino, and left that company last month. He previously held several senior executive and board level positions at both Gucci and Bottega Veneta. He succeeds Frederick Lukoff, who left Stella McCartney in June after a decade at the helm. Lukoff is now ceo of Scotch & Soda.
“Gabriele joins Stella McCartney at an incredibly exciting moment as the brand embarks on the next chapter of our journey,” said McCartney. “As a brand, we continue to drive the most relevant agenda in fashion, and with Gabriele joining the team we can all look forward to realizing the brand’s enormous potential.”
He will take up his role on Oct. 21 and be based at the Stella McCartney headquarters in London, working alongside the designer and the rest of the senior leadership team.
Maggio joins at a pivotal time for the McCartney brand: Last summer, the designer also become a special adviser to LVMH chairman and ceo Bernard Arnault, and the executive committee members, on sustainability.
